After gaining much respect and licensing worldwide during the last year with the first label compilation "Fantastic Freeriding", German label Switchstance Recordings now is back with its second strike: "Fantastic Freeriding 2" once more brings together all the label's artists with 13 new and exciting tracks between Downtempo, Dope Beats, NuFunk and NuJazz. Let's Go Fantastic Freeriding, too!
Ancient Astronauts - aka label head Tom Strauch and inhouse producer Ingo Möll - present new fat visions: "Mexican Loneliness" is a heavy nodder whose red sun renders the mouth dry and dusty. "Return To Blackspin (Protassov Remix)" comes as a relaxed and playful remix with lots of atmosphere. "What Does It Take For You" is riddim-driven and alive with flutes and strings.
Protassov once again shows himself as a drumster with a head all his own: "Mirrorblind" is thinking man's music for conscious beat friends. "Patterns Of Force" by Protassov & Alexander - aka Tom Strauch - serves as a melancholic reflection - in comparison, "Eyeless & Painfree" shines like a spring meadow with many funky flowers. Finally, "Stupid Pillow (Hint Remix)" is a remix by the new Hombre/Ninja Tune talent with a hint to R'n'B. Handclappin' good!
Four-headed band Deela is also heard again here: "Enjoy" is a vivid uptempo chiller for B-boys in their best live tradition. "Wednesday" is an authentic "on the one" Jazz funker and "Conceicao" a NuJazzer with a round bass - already a standard at Deela gigs and appearing here in a special mix.
Kabanjak - a moniker of Ingo Möll - is representing here with "Zumbala", an airy Funk take with wide layers and a catchy guitar lick. "I Am Blind" is a real tune with a riddim section that just takes one along. "Chinese Reverie" - a spacious Tai-Chi daydream - closes "Fantastic Freeriding 2".
The artwork for "Fantastic Freeriding 2" comes from the renowned NuSkool skier and graphic artist Jamie Strachan, who has already displayed his works at well-known exhibitions like modart and, as founding member of Spiritch Media, designs the boardsports mag "Source" among other things.
